Active Sports Timing system used at Hamburg Triathlon World Championships 2007 Hamburg Triathlon 2007

Last weekend (31 August – 2 September) were the ITU Triathlon World Championships 2007 in Hamburg (Germany). Triathlon consists of 3 sports: swimming, cycling and running. Next to several professional classes there was also triathlons for amateurs and school children.

For the professionals the timekeeping was in hands of one of our German Active Sports Timekeepers Mika timing GmbH. Mika Timing took care of the timekeeping for the following classes: Junior W/M, Under 23 W/M, and the Elite M/W. In total 421 athletes divided over 6 different classes.

The Junior classes are swimming 0,75 KM, cycling 20 KM and running for 5 KM. This is also known as the Sprint Distance.The Junior Men’s class contained 82 athletes and the 2007 World Champion is Aurélien Raphael (FRA) followed by Alistair Brownlee (UK) and Vincent Luis (FRA) in respectively second and third place.
The Junior Women’s class contained 66 athletes and the 2007 World Champion is Hollie Avil (UK) followed by Ashleigh Gentle (AUS) and Rebecca Robisch (GER) in respectively second and third place.

The Under23 classes are swimming 1,5 KM, cycling 40 KM and running for 10 KM. This is also known as the Olympic Distance.The Under23 Men’s class contained 80 athletes and the 2007 World Champion is Gregor Buchholz (GER) followed by Brendan Sexton (AUS) and Ivan Vasiliev (RUS) in respectively second and third place.
The Under23 Women’s class contained 36 athletes and the 2007 World Champion is Lisa Norden (SWE) followed by Jasmine Oeinck (USA) and Renata Koch(HUN) in respectively second and third place.

The Elite classes are also swimming 1,5 KM, cycling 40 KM and running for 10 KM (Olympic Distance). The Elite Men’s class contained 80 athletes and the 2007 World Champion is Daniel Unger (GER) followed by Javier Gomez (ESP) and Brad Kahlefeldt (AUS) in respectively second and third place.
The Elite Women’s class contained 77 athletes and the 2007 World Champion is Vanessa Fernandes (POR) followed by Emma Snowsill (AUS) and Laura Bennett (USA) in respectively second and third place.
